Peacock is the National Bird because it Does not Engage into Sex With Peahen: High Court Judge

While disposing a petition suggesting cow should be declared the national animal, the Rajasthan High Court judge Mahesh Chand Sharma said that peacock does not involve with sexual activities with peahen and that is why it was named as the national bird. The judge raised the issue when trying to draw a parallel between cow and peacock.
In reference to the verdict, the judge said that peacock has been considered as a holy animal in India because they are life-long celibate and do not engage in sexual activities with peahen. The judge added that peahen uses the tears of the peacock to become impregnated. Justice Sharma also said, “Lord Krishna used peacock’s feather for celibacy of the bird.”
While explaining his statement, the high court judge said that according to religious textbooks cow is an important animal in our culture and society. Their urine and dung are even beneficial for human. Justice Sharma explained that the Hindu mythology suggests that 33 crore gods and goddesses reside inside a cow.
The judge also said that cow is probably the only living animal in this world that intakes oxygen and emits oxygen. While stressing on the benefits of cow urine, the judge said that cow urine keeps heart, lever and mind healthy as well as improves immunity power. Cow can absorb “cosmic energy” through its horns, the judge added.
However, his explanation drew huge reactions on the social media, where many were seen laughing at the judge and trolling him with different suggestions. Among others, Congress spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi wrote on her Twitter account as saying “Cow intakes Oxygen, emit Oxygen. Peacock is a Brahmachari. Some wise words from Judge saab. Must correct our textbooks ASAP.”
