Brazilian football legend Roberto Carlos is the new inclusion in the much-awaited Leisure League Pakistan (LLP). The inclusion of former Brazil and Real Madrid star Carlos in the LLP means the number of total superstar footballers is now raised to seven. The former world cupper will join the bandwagon of superstars like Ronaldinho, David James, Luis Boa, Robert Pires, George Boateng and Nicolas Anelka for an exhibition match in Pakistan.
While expressing his excitement of visiting Pakistan for the first time, the Brazilian said that his friend Ronaldinho told him about the project, which will be organised by the World Group headed by Mr Mehmood Trunkwala and he immediately agreed to be a part of it.
The football legend, who stunned analysts by his physics-defying free kick against France in 1997, said that who knows, maybe he manage to score another such goal in the match in Pakistan. While talking about the project, he is so impressed with World Group’s effort for the Development of football in Pakistan. He added that they went too far to organise such league in Pakistan.
During his service time, Carlos was one of the most valuable players in world football. He has probably been the greatest left-back, the world has ever seen. Winning the FIFA World Cup 2002 was definitely the highest achievement of his football career. Apart from this, Carlos was a part of the national football team that won four Spanish La Liga and three Champions Leagues in his career.
The Leisure League Pakistan is a brainchild of World Group Head Mehmood Trunkwala, who has taken the great initiative to develop Pakistani football from the grassroots level.
