Since the time of its inauguration in 2014, the Indian Super League has acquired huge fanfare and the inclusion of two additional teams is expected to take the craze of football in India sky high. This season, it will be a 10-team affair and while speaking on the issue, the excited Chairperson of Football Sports Development Ltd, Nita Ambani said that the extension of the league will help organizers to connect with fans in a better way.
Mrs. Ambani said that she is excited and looking forward and make the event bigger and better with each season. She said that just within three seasons, the organizers have witnessed 140% increase in the involvement of India players. She said that the player draft featuring more than 200 players compared to 84 in Season 1, will see the official launch of ISL 2017-18.
While speaking on the newly included teams, Mrs. Ambani said that she was overwhelmed with the response fans have shown for the inclusion of two new teams in the league. She added as saying that she believes that the organizers will support two new teams namely Tata Steel’s Jamshedpur FC and Jindal’s Bengaluru FC in all the way.
The fourth season of the Hero ISL will commence after the completion of FIFA Under-17 World Cup and while stressing on the new rule for this season, Mrs. Ambani said that from this year, each team will be able to field maximum 5 foreign players. She added as saying that this will allow more local players to use the platform and shine their skills on the field. She also said that more than 216 million people have enjoyed the last season on television, while a record 6 million have watched the league using the digital platform.
