Following the noble initiative of Kochi Metro Rail, the All Kerala Self Financing Schools Federation has now shown green signal for employment of qualified transgender individuals as teachers. All Kerala Self Financing Schools Federation works for representing many unrecognized schools and also for those who have applied for recognition with the Education Department. The decision made by the representatives of the federation told it on 31 July. According to the vision of the representatives, they told the decision would help the marginalized community to come out of the shell.
Ramadas Karidur, president of the federation told an Indian Daily that individuals who have passed TTC, pre-primary TTC or B.ED would be considered as eligible to apply. Transgender individuals would avail priority when there would be a vacancy. He also told that vacancy would be created if the individuals seemed to be qualified.
The association is made of nearly 1400 members around the State; most of them are the owner of primary and upper primary schools. Mr. Karidur told he had also discussed the matter to various non-governmental organizations in Ernakulam for the betterment of the community and they welcomed the idea. Kochi Metro was the first to break the stereotype behavior against the community.
According to Mr. Ramdas, women could have paid leave during their menstrual periods; the decision would help everyone if implemented. The regulation is heard to be effective from this month. There are many plans to be done, depicting his envisions, Ramdas told that they had plans to start a foundation course for admissions to the Indian institution of Technology from class V. Classes are supposed to start from October 1 in different 100schools and one period per day will be given for the purpose.
