Badminton World Federation women’s singles rankings have been revealed on September 17. The Indian star shuttler P V Sindhu has jumped two places and achieved the second spot in the rankings of Badminton World Federation women’s singles rankings (BWF). The Korea Open Super Series title had helped her to ride on the rankings on September 17. P V Sindhu, Olympics silver medallist has achieved the second position for the second time in her life. She also remarked that she had been at the same rank on April 6, 2017.
Chinese Taipei’s Tai Tzu Ying holds the top position in the Badminton World Federation women’s singles rankings (BWF) this year. Saina Nehwal, the bronze medallist from London Olympics has remained at the same position on the 12th position. Carolina Marin, the reigning Olympic champion from Spain also remained at the same spot where as Nozomi Okuhara from Japan has stepped up one place to eighth.
In the section of men’s single rankings, K Srikanth’s position has remained unchanged at eighth when H S Prannoy and B Sai Praneeth has dropped by one place, each to be at 19th and 17th respectively. Another athlete named, Ajay Jayaram also misplaced by three places and currently remaining at 20th position. Ajay Jayaram was the only Indian participating at the Malaysia Open soon after beating fourth seed Viktor Axelsen from England by 9-21, 21-14, 21-19 in the second round on September 14. Jayaram had won the previous challenges against China’s Qiao Bin, scoring 21-11, 21-8 in the first round on Wednesday. However, had remained lost a spot and ranked from world No 19 to 20th in the latest rankings.
