Nepal had called up a total 28 players for the upcoming preliminary closed camp training prior to their final round matches of the ICC World Cricket League Championship (WCLC) in opposition to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The announcement had been made on November 8. The final matches between Nepal and UAE would take place on December 6 and 8, but that team has already failed automatic berth in the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers. The eight-team WCLC had sent the top four teams in the Qualifiers along with the Netherlands and Papua New Guinea already succeeded it through. Hong Kong, Kenya and Scotland are still amidst the conflict for the two leftover spots for straight qualification.
Nepal has ranked sixth in the tournament with nine points, earned from the 12 matches and the forthcoming match against UAE would give them a chance to recover some superiority and get ready themselves for the forthcoming ICC World Cricket League Division 2 that to be held in February 2018.
The opening team consists of 14 players who had previously competed in the WCLC sixth round games in opposition to Hong Kong. Gyanendra Malla, Paras Khadka, Basant Regmi, Sharad Vesawkar, Binod Bhandari, Sompal Kami, Karan KC, Dipendra Singh Airee, Sagar Pun, Arif Sheikh, Sandeep Lamichhane, Sushan Bhari Shrestha Lalit Singh Bhandari and Sushil Kandel had represented the team for Hong Kong games.
Presently, Naresh Budhayer has been replaced by Vesawkar after the batsman had suffered from fever. There were more players like Jitendra Mukhiya, Shakti Gauchan, Saurabh Khanal, Mehboob Alam, Siddhant Lohani, Hasim Ansari, Bikram Sob, Dilip Nath, Anil Mandal, Sunil Dhamala and Kushal Bhurtel, who also had been called up together.
