A Swiss couple was badly injured after a group of youngsters in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur Sikri chased and beaten them on Sunday, October 22. The incident took place when UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was about to visit Agra on Thursday. Five arrests, in this case, have been made so far and according to police, three boys among them are minors.
The unexpected incident left the Swiss couple severely injured, as the man was admitted to a local health centre with a broken skull, while his partner came with a fractured arm and a hearing impairment. Police have identified the miscreants by the photograph they had clicked forcibly.
Soon after learning about the incident, Union Tourism Minister K Alphons wrote a letter to the UP CM expressing concern over the issue that took place near India’s one of the most visited tourist destinations. While speaking on the issue, Mr Alphons said that he has written a letter to CM Adityanath and hoped that all the culprits will be booked soon. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj immediately reacted to the incident and asked the UP government to submit a report on the issue. A team of officers from the office of foreign ministry visited the couple in hospital.
The unexpected incident happened to the Swiss couple when they were walking at the Fatehpur Sikri complex. According to the couple, a group of youngsters approached them and started taking selfies forcibly. The miscreants were reluctant to leave the couple and even chased them for an hour.
According to the police, an FIR has been made against four people and hunt for the rests is still going on. Chandra Prakash, the Additional Director General (ADG) Crime said that some of the detainees are minor and the probe is on.
