Uttar Pradesh’s Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar’s convoy allegedly hit a 5-year-old boy in the Gonda area. According to the locals, despite getting the report, police have not reached the spot on time. Soon after hearing about the incident, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered a probe and asked the senior most police officer to submit a report on the issue. The UP CM also announced the compensation of Rs. 5 lakh for the family of the victim.
According to an eyewitness, five-year-old Shiva Goswami was hit by a car, which was a part of the minister’s convoy. He was accompanied by his mother and grandmother. The boy was playing by the side of the road that links Colonelganj and Paraspur in UP’s eastern district. Locals said that the boy was hit by one of the cars accompanying the Minister. Several family members of the victim alleged that the Minister himself was in one of the cars and they even did not stop to see what has happened.
Minister Rajbhar is from the SBSP (Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party), an ally of the ruling party in the state. According to a source, the Minister was passing the area to attend a function in Paraspur and one of the vehicles accompanying him hit the victim, who was playing on a pavement. Following the incident, angry locals blocked the road and demonstrated protest before police rushed the spot and convinced them to lift the blocked.
However, when asked about the incident, Minister Rajbhan said that the boy was not hit by his convoy and he only knew about the incident when he was nearly 50 km away from the spot. He maintained that none of his vehicles hit the boy and it could be another vehicle that was running behind his convoy.
