ODI Team Released From SLC Along With the Approval of Sports Ministry

The One Day International team has been released by Sri Lanka Cricket that would play against India under the leadership of all-rounder Thisara Perera. The side also counts previous captains Upul Tharanga and Angelo Mathews, but Test skipper Dinesh Chandimal has not got a position in that team. The Sri Lanka one day international team would include 16 players along with excellent opener Kushal Perera, but sources informed that he would get the chance in the playing XI as the replacement of any player.
The Sri Lankan Cricket was about to send off their nine players to India to join the squad in Delhi. However, the Minister of Sports had instructed them to return as cricket officials had failed to abide by the procedure to avail the rectification from the Minister.

The Sports Minister has approved the request and the squad had left their homeland in the early morning on December 6. Players include Upul Tharanga, Thisara Perera, Asela Gunaratne, Danushka Gunathilaka, Akila Dananjaya, Chaturanga de Silva, Dushmantha Chameera, Sachith Pathirana and Kusal Janith Perera are about to join the Sri Lanka team in Delhi. On the other hand, Lahiru Thirimanne, Angelo Mathews, Suranga Lakmal, Niroshan Dickwella, Sadeera Samarawickrama and Dhananjaya de Silva would play in India for the ODIs.
