In a series of killing senior police officials, terrorists killed an additional IG in the city of Peshawar on November 24. Senior police officer Mohammad Ashraf Noor is the latest victim of terror, as a suicide bomber attacked his vehicle on a motorcycle. The incident took place near Tatara Park on Friday morning.
According to the eyewitnesses, the suicide bomber came on a motorcycle and rammed it into the police vehicle. The senior officer died on the spot while other officials were taken to Haytabad Medical Complex for treatment. The driver of the vehicle received injuries but survived the blast. Ashraf Noor, who joined the police force in 1989, was from Gilgit Baltistan. He also served the force as an AIG of Elite Fore Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the investigating officials, who condoned the area following the blast said that attacker used nearly 20 Kg of explosive in the blast. The blast damaged two police vehicles and injured many on the spot. While describing the incident, the driver of the vehicle that was carrying Ashraf Noor, said that the senior officer was sitting in the back seat and the suicide bomber suddenly hit the vehicle before blowing himself up.
Soon after getting the report, Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi condemned the attack and expressed his condolence. The PM said that such attacks will weaken government’s determination to fight against terror. Likewise, PTI chairman Imran Khan in his official Twitter account wrote that such incident will not deter the determination of the security force and the PTI government in their fight against terrorism. PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto also condemned the attack and expressed his condolence to the family members of the victim and the injured.
