The foremost artificially intelligent robot citizen of the world, Sophia has arrived in Dhaka with an aim of attending Digital World 2017. Abu Naser, public relations officer at the ICT Division has remarked that the components of the humanoid robot were inside a box at the time of its flight from Hong Kong. He also informed, soon after the arrival at 12:00 AM on December 5, the box has been accompanied by a machinist who took it to a five-star hotel from the Airport. However, Dr David Hanson, the inventor of the humanoid robot is yet to arrive in Bangladesh.
Sheikh Hasina, the honorary Prime Minister of Bangladesh inaugurated the Digital World Expo on December 6. It would be significant to admit that the humanoid robot, Sophia resembles Hollywood legend Audrey Hepburn, and it was interacting with the visitors at the expo during 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm on the same day. She also answered the questions from the guests at the event, held at the Hall of Fame within the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre or BICC at a session. “Techtalk with Sophia”, that opened for 1,700 visitors.
The event dragged the community of tech buffs from different parts of the nation and Dr David Hanson delivered a speech at the end of the conference. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, the State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Division enlightened the event with his presence. The ICT Division has recently uploaded a video of the event and it became viral on the Internet. The managing director and country head of Grey Advertising Bangladesh, Syed Gousul Alam Shaon has also expressed his hopes on the event.
