12th Int’l Taekwondo Tournament Began In Nepal

The 12th International Open Taekwondo Championship Competition has begun at the Taekwondo Academy on January 1. This time, the competition is likely to become tougher as athletes and officials from more than two dozen countries are participating in the event.  Participating countries include Nepal, India, Cambodia, Bangladesh, USA, Qatar, UK, Canada, Austria, Australia, Nigeria, Ghana and many more. The event had previously created a buzz regarding its happening; the event has become one of the much-awaited events in the country.

Rajendra Kumar KC, Minister for Youth and Sports had inaugurated the event on January 1. While inaugurating the tournament, Rajendra Kumar KC remarked that the Government should pay adequate importance to both the rural and city areas for promotion of all sports that are being played across the nation. The opportunity of arranging such an event is very prestigious for a nation like Nepal. The minister also shared some of his views regarding the development of sports scenario all across the country in future.

The minister also praised Nepal as it got the opportunity to organize the 13th SAF Games in the offing, he also assured to build up physical infrastructure in Itahari in order to lead it as a ‘sports city’ of Nepal.  On the other hand, Keshav Kumar Bista, Member Secretary of National Sports Council also promised to increase the name and fame of Nepal with the help of popular sports personalities.  The tournament has created an ambience of excitement among the sports lover and the fans. The event has also been found to be a mega sports event of the country and everyone is excited about the tournament.
