According to the latest reports, Chandika Hathurusingha has been appointed as the cricket coach of Sri Lanka cricket team on December 20. Earlier, he used to train Bangladeshi cricketers and now looks forward to replicating the achievement that, he found with Bangladesh. Sri Lanka cricket team is practising without a coach since the resignation of Graham Ford half a year ago. Nick Pothas, the fielding coach used to be the temporary coach from that time. The cricket authorities of Sri Lanka seemed hopeful with the arrival of Chandika Hathurusingha and they hope the fortune of the team is likely to be changed following the continuous defeats of recent past.
Chandika Hathurusingha had a contract with Bangladesh till the 2019 World Cup, and now he has resigned following the completion of the contract and willing to do his job in another country. He remarked his previous plans with New South Wales, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have been successful and this time, he is interested to implement similar plan once again. While discussing many issues with the journalists, he remarked that the squad is rich in potential, all they need is a stable plan.
He has played 35 one-day internationals and 26 test matches for Sri Lanka earlier. Bangladesh had made significant achievement in the field of world cricket during his tenure. Recently, Bangladesh had also managed to reach up to the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy tournament in England. He was the only one to criticize the Bangladesh cricket team after a series of defeats in their recent tour to South Africa.
