Nepal has managed to step forward in the maiden ACC U-16 Eastern Region cricket tournament together with a victory of 71 runs against Singapore in the concluding match held at the Terdthai cricket grounds in Bangkok, Thailand on December 16.
Nepal decided to bat first and they scored 183-6 in 35 overs and barred Singapore’s scoring at 112 in 31.5 overs. Regular skipper Rit Gautam was absent and Bishal Bikram KC has led the team towards a match-winning 63 from No 7 batsman Narayan Joshi had helped the team to accomplish a glorious triumph.
Although, Nepal had made a poor start with Rajan Magar and Kushal Malla, the game changed from the middle half when Subodh Ayer appeared on the pitch. Sunil Bhandari and Trit Das has also delivered their energetic performance and helped to acquire valuable runs. Bishal Bikram KC has shown his dynamic performance on that day. He was the only player to score four boundaries and a six during his 79 ball knock. Joshi and KC had managed to get 48 run sixth wicket stand in 33 balls and Joshi seemed to be unbeaten on 46 in his 233 ball knock.
Raoul Sharma, Rajesh Krishnan and Pramesh Singhavi have got one wicket each and Ishaan Sawney had taken two wickets in the game. It could be described as a big achievement for Nepal as the inaugural tournament of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has ended with a glorious victory. They had made it after watching Malaysia reached the semi-finals on December 16. Earlier in 2014, Nepal was the ACC U-16 champions, however later it only participated as the ACC U-16 Premier. Rit Gautam has become the foremost player to slam a century at the ACC U-16 tournament on December 14.
