Sagar Punand and Binod Bhandari Not Playing In the ICC World Cricket League Division 2

As per the latest announcement from the Nepali squad on January 4, Sagar Punand and Binod Bhandari would turn out to be two big absentees from the 21-member opening for an all-important ICC World Cricket League Division 2 tournament. Nepal has been downgraded from the family of ICC World Cricket League Championship after finishing on the seventh position amidst eight-team tournament. In the latest report, sources have informed that they are about to participate in Division 2 that would be arranged in Namibia in February. The six-team Division 2 would determine the fate of Nepali cricket for forthcoming four-year cycle within international cricket as it is preparing for sending its top two teams into the 2019 World Cup Qualifiers.

Based on the final position in Division 2, the teams would receive their reward with multiple tournaments for upcoming cycle of Associate cricket.  Recently, Nepal has acquired the opportunity to enlist their name in the WCLC after they had completed fourth in the 2015 Division 2 tournament that had also taken place in Namibia.  People would play in opposition to the hosts, Oman, Canada, Kenya and the United Arab Emirates. Bhandari and Pun have not been able to sneak into the final selection for the upcoming tournaments.

Jagat Tamatta and skipper Paras Khadka, the national team coaches have heavily criticized the duo for their dull performance during the Everest Premier League Twenty20 Cricket.  Jagat Tamatta remarked that the duo had paid for not finding back their form.  Both the players had adequate potentials and they had shown it before.  Now it was a long time they have not contributed for the sake of the squad and there are few youngsters who indeed deserve the roles for their dynamic performance.
