Golf Gold Medal Claimed By Karki


After successfully guiding Central Region to the title victory, Tanka Bahadur Karki has achieved the individual section gold medal of the NGA-NSC Open Golf Championship at the Royal Nepal Golf Club on January 12. Karki has played a round of two-over 70 with an aim of posting the 54-hole total of three-over 207 for a five-shot triumph over his national team member Sukra Bahadur Rai.

Sukra Bahadur Rai, the golfer from Nirvana Country Club carded one-under 67 for finishing at the second position after the youthful participant from Central Region Subash Tamang had paused to nine-over 77. Regardless of the below level performance, Tamang managed to claim the honorary bronze medal with a total score of 18-over 222.

Karki had the eight-shot advantage to enter the third and final round. He played two-over 36 on the front nine following his shots on the fifth and ninth holes. On the concluding half, Karki had suffered bogeys on the 13th and 16th in opposition to birdies on the 11th and 18th holes. Rai made a shot even-par 34 on the front nine that incorporated a birdie at the fourth position and a bogey on the seventh. Rai has carded birdies at the time of 11th and 17th holes ahead of facing a bogey on the final hole to end the back nine at one-below 33.

On January 11, the Central Region team of Karki, Ghising and Sandip Tamang had made a prestigious triumph and acquired the team event gold with an impressive score of 282, whilst Sundar Rai, Yubraj Bhujel and Sukra from Nirvana Country Club had finished at the second position at 294. RNGC team of Bharat Bastakoti, Binod Tamang and Navaraj Chaulagain acquired the third position with a score of 304.
