Hyderabad Man Shot in Face by Unidentified Assailants in Chicago

The 30-year-old India man was shot while he was walking towards his car in Chicago’s Albany Park area on Saturday, December 9. The victim, who has been identified as Mohammad Akbar was admitted to a hospital and is now in critical condition. The victim is from Hyderabad and according to his father, Akbar was shot following a heated argument with the unidentified attackers.

Akbar’s father Mohammad Yusuf said that after hearing the sound of the gunshot, locals rushed to the spot and took Akbar to a nearby hospital. He added that his son was pursuing masters in computer systems and telecommunications. According to the local police, the victim was shot in the cheek and the attackers are yet to be identified.

This was not the first time when an Indian has been come under such attack in the soil of the United States, as more and more such stories have come out in the light in the recent past. In June this year, 23-year-old Mubeen Ahmed, who visited the U.S. from Telangana to pursue his Engineering, was shot by unidentified men. According to Mubeen’s family member, he was working at a department store and suddenly shot by an unidentified man on the evening. The assailants shot twice in his stomach. Likewise, in February this year, a Telangana youth was shot and killed near his residential address in California. He was also gone to the U.S. to pursue his masters.

The killing of Indian man Srinivas Kuchibhotla in a shooting inside a bar in Kansas also came in the news for which the law and justice department convicted a 51-year man with the charge of first-degree murder.
